CMF 2006

Content Management Forum 2006, we're here. And I must say it's an excellent conference, with great organisation. Same location as last year, it has grown in numbers of participants as well as CMS vendors. Last year we were 4, - and now we are 12!

I've heard some very interesting speakers, in which point of views I sometime agree, sometime not. But that doesn't matter because you simply get generic influencers input. Even those small sessions which is less challenging sometime reveals good point of views. For example, Janus Boye had an interesting observation yesterday morning where he explained that selecting a huge traditional vendor isn't the same as being future proof. His example was Microsoft with their MS CMS. They have argued that selecting them would ensure future development. But in this case, MS actually have terminated the product and will replace it with SharePoint 2007. And there's no real upgrade path. So investments in MS CMS has been lost if you wish to continue upgrading. Good observation; haven't thought of it as such.

We were also participating in the "Web Idol" contest yesterday, but didn't win (no2). eZ publish did a very good visual presentation, taking pictures of the audience and uploaded them to the demo site. Sounds basic, - but was done in a good convincing manner. Well done guys!

Anyways. This conference is better than last year. More targeting speakers and workshops. More vendors. All we need now is more end customers. But I'm positive there will be next year. Very good job Janus and CMF volunteers working so utterly hard to get everything up'n running smoothly. So, Sitecore partners. Join this one next year.
